Welcome to Cameron's corner of the world wide web. Cameron Matthew was born June 19, 2004 at 2:25 AM. He weighed 8 pounds (!) and measured 19.5 inches long. His mom labored for 16-1/2 hours, including one hour and forty minutes of pushing! Way to go, mommy!
Cameron's weight dropped by several ounces in the hospital, as it does for most newborns, but within a few days he was chugging mommy's breast milk and gaining weight. He is healthy and very mellow. He likes to sleep, coo, and wiggle his arms and legs. He fusses when he's hungry, but his mom is all over it before he has any reason to cry.
All four of Cameron's grandparents, along with his Aunt Emily and Uncle Brian, were in town when he came along. His maternal grandma stayed in town for a little over a week, to help with chores around the house. His paternal grandparents have been visiting often and have even brought home-cooked meals on two occasions.
Cameron's dad took a week off work but has since returned to the daily grind. His mom quit her job at the nursing home and is enjoying her new career as full-time Mommy. She plans to return to her part-time job at the hospital in September, working one weekend and a couple of weeknights each month.
Cameron's older sister (of the feline variety), Hana, acted funny for a few days but now seems to be adjusting to the baby in her house. She likes to sniff Cameron on occassion, but she usually just watches from a distance.
Until Cameron is ready to take over maintenance of this site, it will be maintained by his dad and used to share photographs and short movie clips. Check back regularly for news and updates.
