Not a Baby Anymore
31 December 2005

Here is one last update for 2005. After two parties to celebrate his birthday in June, Cameron enjoyed his first train ride (a short jaunt in a coach pulled by Thomas the Tank Engine) and survived his first plane ride (a long flight to the Bay Area for a weeklong vacation, where he visited his Aunt Teresa and cousins Chris and Josh). He took a road trip to visit relatives in Milwaukee, including his great great Aunt Iva Lee, and spent time with some special visitors here at home, including his Aunt Rachel and cousin Seth; his great Aunt Mary & family; and his great Uncle Mark. He got sick a few times this fall, but was still able to go trick-or-treating on Halloween, and he got to sit on Santa's lap a couple of times in December. He spent Thanksgiving with his great Grandma & Grandpa Payne; and Christmas with all four grandparents, plus his Uncle Brian and Aunt Emily. On top of all this, his parents found out that he will soon be a big brother, as his mom is pregnant and due sometime around May 30!

On the Verge
28 May 2005

Cameron will be one year old in three weeks (his birthday falls on Father's Day this year). His big milestone is his new skill of standing independently. He is cruising and climbing on everything and everyone. He can walk up to five steps without assistance. We are so proud of him. He seems more like a little boy than a baby.

Cam now has six teeth, and is working on a few more. His hair is growing in thicker, but it's still as soft as silk. He has been eating finger foods, including frozen veggies, pasta, meats, breads, and fruits. He loves just about any fruit, including watermelon and cantaloupe.

Now that the weather is nice, Cameron and his mom are going on lots of stroller runs to the park. They just completed a 5K race where they placed first in mom's age group (Cam's first blue ribbon) and fifth among all women.

Cameron's favorite activities at the playground are climbing on the equipment and sliding down the slide. He recently finished swimming lessons, and is now ready for the pool. He is enjoying Gymboree music classes where he can show off his clapping abilities.

Overdue Update
21 February 2005

Cameron is now 8 months old. He is crawling alot. He likes to chase the cat around the house, but she is much too quick to catch. He can pull himself up to chairs and shelves, and he is starting to cruise. He's fallen on his bottom enough times that he no longer cries over it. He has four teeth (ouch!), but still less hair than when he was born. He eats baby cereal, some fruit, and all kinds of vegetables and meat (pureed, of course). He likes to knaw on a frozen bagel each night after dinner. He weighs 20 pounds, plus or minus a few ounces. He is not ticklish, but sometimes he giggles when we try to tickle him (the sound would melt your heart). He has been sleeping about 11 hours a night, but sometimes he wants to stay up and play well past his bedtime. His favorite bedtime story is Goodnight Moon (his Mom has it memorized). He's got lots of toys, but his favorite ones are magazines and remote controls. When he's not playing, he's usually trying to reach the cat's food and water dishes, so he can tip them over. He and his mom stay busy with a mom's club, a play group, story times, and lots of other activities. His dad enjoys taking lots of pictures, although props go to Mommy for the picture above. In any case, Daddy thought it was time to update this web site, so we hope you enjoy.
