Aloha to summer 2006-08-27 (Sunday) 20:17 CDT
Porter turned three months old on Wednesday. Our good friend,
photographer Jenni Palmer, expertly captured this beautiful smile at
playgroup. Porter's smiles brighten our day and the sound of his coos
takes our breath away. We are amazed how fast he is growing. He
rolled from his back to his tummy for the first time
yesterday. We have enjoyed watching both Port and Cam develop this summer. Cam is able to verbalize his thoughts and parrot everything he hears. He is learning to share his toys and his parents' time with his little brother. As the summer comes to an end, we look forward to cooler weather and to upcoming holidays. I will be going back to work PRN at the hospital in September. Cameron, Porter, and I will attend MOPS again this fall, and I will attend women's bible study on Tuesdays. Both activities are held at our church. We will continue in our playgroup, which continues to grow (two moms are expecting in January). We hope to enroll Cameron in a music class this fall and I plan to expose both boys to storytimes and local child-friendly activities. Fluffy White Bubbles 2006-08-27 (Sunday) 17:12 CDT
I have been working with Cameron on learning his textures, colors, and shapes. So when I gave him a bath the other night with bubbles, Cam said the bubbles were fluffy and white. Matt put Porter in his pjs while I gave Cam a bath. The Boys 2006-08-27 (Sunday) 16:50 CDT
Dad has been very busy at work this summer, but he makes the most of family time with Cameron and Porter. Cameron can't get enough of the teasing and tickling. Obligatory Poses 2006-08-27 (Sunday) 16:38 CDT

Antioch Park 2006-08-27 (Sunday) 16:21 CDT
Matt captured these nice pictures while they played peek-a-boo around the miniature village at Antioch Park on a hot and humid Saturday. Dad also gave Cam a long piggyback ride back to the shelter where mom was feeding Porter. Grandpa's workshop 2006-08-27 (Sunday) 15:55 CDT
One of Cameron's favorite activities is playing with real tools. He hammered nails with his cousins in Grandpa's workshop. Much supervsion is required. He also got to play with Uncle Mark who was visiting from Des Moines. A flurry of activity 2006-08-26 (Saturday) 22:56 CDT Heya, Cam and Port's dad here. By the time you read this, you have probably noticed a few changes around here:
Later for now! Our cousins from PA 2006-08-25 (Friday) 14:14 CDT
Cameron and Porter stayed cool and had a wonderful time playing with their cousins, Emily, Erica, Jacob, and Alison at Grandma and Grandpa L's house last weekend. Their cousins, and Aunt Maria, were visiting from Philadelphia. It was such a thrill to have the cousins, whose ages range from 3 months to 9 years, play together. We all wish we lived closer together.
Emily and Erica are both so sweet and pretty; it is hard to tell them apart.
Baby Porter cooed to Grandma while baby Alison splashed in the baby pool. First McDonald's burger 2006-08-25 (Friday) 10:31 CDT
One of the small milestones in a young child's life is enjoying a Happy Meal. We don't make it a habit, but I do get excited when Cameron tries new food, since he is such a picky eater. I know it may be fifteen years before he appreciates the great taste of a falafel and hummus pita, but every little step counts. Family reunion 2006-08-24 (Thursday) 12:49 CDT Traveling with a newborn and a 2 year old did not sound like too much fun for us this summer, so we were unable to attend a family gathering in Colordado, but we did manage to drive down to Bolivar, MO for a family reunion at a local park. Cameron's maternal grandparents grew up in Bolivar, and I spent a few years of my young childhood living there. Here is a picture of baby Porter with Great-Grandma.
Hot July 2006-08-22 (Tuesday) 16:58 CDT Temperatures have been in the 100's for most of July. Mom, Cameron, and Porter have stayed indoors for most of the month. When we have ventured outside it has been to go to the local pool. Cameron really enjoyed splashing in the baby pool with his friends this summer. Porter usually slept in his carrier while his big brother cooled off. Next summer will be more enjoyable for all of us to get in the pool, since the boys will both be walking.
Cameron was able to hold a sparkler to celebrate this 4th of July (he finally decided it wasn't so scary after all, but he wanted to hold it sitting down only).
Cameron's Aunt Rachel and cousin, Seth, came to visit in July from San Anotonio. Cameron enjoyed hanging out with his older cousin. You could tell Cameron wanted to do everything his big cousin did, including riding a skateboard. Here is a picture of Cam and Seth riding a small train at the mall.
Cam turns 2 2006-08-21 (Monday) 21:55 CDT
Cameron celebrated his 2nd Birthday on June 19. We hosted a Sesame Street themed birthday party in his honor and he invited all his friends to have Elmo cupcakes (which he helped Grandma B make) and splash around in his little pool. On Cam's actual birthday, which was a Monday, Mom, Grandpa B, Grandma B and baby Porter took Cam to the park to try out his new tricycle and have a picnic. Thomas the Tank Engine 2006-08-21 (Monday) 19:43 CDT
Cameron and Porter enjoyed an exciting adventure riding Thomas the Tank Engine in Baldwin City, KS back in June. Cameron rode the train last summer as well but this year felt like a whole new experience for him, since he is older. Cameron was able to sit in a real fire truck and play with wooden and electric train sets, before we walked to a local park for lunch. It was a fun day for all of us. Why stop at ten? 2006-08-05 (Saturday) 8:17 CDT Cameron counted to 10 several times last night, and the last time he went all the way to 12. Seven months in fifty words or less 2006-08-03 (Thursday) 22:27 CDT I'm too tired to document the last seven months in detail, but here are the highlights:
'Till next time... Keeping up with Cam & Port 2006-08-03 (Thursday) 22:27 CDT In the past, my routine for updating this web site has been to assemble dozens of pictures together into one or more pages (like the pages of a photo album) and post them all at once. However, many weeks or months would pass between updates. As a result, the site was often out of date and rarely offered the most recent pictures or news about the boys. I've decided to turn the site into a blog. In this way, it will be easy to post one or two pics at a time, or just a few words about what Cam & Port have been up to. This will mean fewer pictures overall, but more dynamic content. I've also offered to help the boys' mom learn how to edit the blog. It remains to be seen whether she has the time, patience and persistence to learn the necessary computer skills... Let's wish her luck! |
