Porter Park
2007-08-23 (Thursday) 15:31 CDT
We finally made it to Porter Park. It is a nice park with play equipment, a
walking path, sand box, and two small ball fields. I think we will visit again
this fall and bring a bat and ball with us and let the boys run around the
bases. It was a little too hot for me at the playground so we headed for the
pool for one of the last trips of the summer. The pool hours have shortened
since school started. I know we will all miss the pool. It has been a lot of
fun this summer. Porter started out being very timid of the water and crying
everytime he fell down. Now he is walking into the water all the way up to his
chin and goes down the slide laughing. Cameron has made some strides too this
summer. He jumps to me from the edge, has practiced doggy paddling with a
lifejacket, and holds his breath under the water. Next year we will try
swimming lessons for Cam, and then maybe he will go down the
slide.
Seth's visit
2007-08-22 (Wednesday) 15:53 CDT
My dad brought Seth to our house for a couple of days on their trip back to
Texas. We all enjoyed spending time with Seth again. I think Seth's
favorite place was the skate park. Cameron wants to be just like Seth, so he brought
his skateboard too. Seth was so patient with Cameron and taught him a few
moves. Cameron always tells me that when he is big he will skateboard like
Seth, ride a bike like Seth, and play the cello like Seth.
We explored the new train exhibit, science city, and watched a show in the
Planitarium at Union Station.
We finally made it to a ballgame at Kauffman stadium on a real hot night.
The day before the game we took a tour of the stadium (I failed to remember my camera). I
think Grandpa enjoyed the tour and the game most of all, but Cam and Seth had
fun at the Little K taking some pitches and running the bases.
Unfortunetly the Royals lost, which is typical when we actually go out to
watch a game.
Dad's Family
2007-08-22 (Wednesday) 15:14 CDT
Most of our neices, newphews, and cousins on dad's side of the family came to
visit us this summer. The first picture includes Great Aunt Mary, Cousin
Rachel, Grandma and Grandpa, Uncle Brian, and us. The second picture is
cousins, Alison, Emily, Jacob, Cameron, Erica, Joshua, and Christopher (Porter
would not cooperate with this picture). Visits from our family are
something we look forward to all year.
Family Reunion 2007
2007-08-22 (Wednesday) 14:38 CDT
The second annual Family Reunion for my side of the family was held at the park
in Bolivar, MO on a hot, sticky day in July. It was fun seeing the old and new
relatives, and reconnecting with our past. Cameron has developed a close bond
with his cousin, Thomas, which I hope will continue to be nurtured each year at
this reunion.
Silver Dollar City
2007-08-21 (Tuesday) 21:59 CDT
We enjoyed a trip to Branson with grandparents, Aunt Rachel and her son, Seth,
back in July. My parents used to take us to Branson every year when I was a
child. As a child I loved the funnel cakes, log flume, the infamous
highjacked train ride, and saloon show. Some attractions have stayed the same,
while others have unfortunately changed with the times. Cameron loved riding
all the new children's rides they added in the Grand Exposition area of the
park. I rode one new adult ride that was very thrilling called Electro Spin. Most of the time was spent finding
kid attractions and shopping in all the unique stores. Cameron built his own
wooden train. After the park, we headed down the main strip in Branson and
played miniature golf and go-carts. Grandpa drove a go-cart with Cameron, and
Seth rode on his own. It was a fun filled weekend in Branson that will be
revisited again for many more years to come.
Bath's not over
2007-08-19 (Sunday) 0:28 CDT
The other night I gave Porter a bath, dried him up, put his pajamas on,
and just like that he was
back in the tub.
Sleeping in
2007-08-18 (Saturday) 23:15 CDT
Cameron woke up early and grouchy this morning and was given the choice
to either return to bed or play quietly in his room. He stated firmly
that he was going back to bed.
