Irish Eyes are Smiling
2007-03-14 (Wednesday) 8:58 CDT
St. Patrick's Day is around the corner, and I feel like the
luckiest mom to have two beautiful boys to wake up to early each
morning. I am sure more than luck made it possible for us to be
blessed with two healthy, strong boys, but Grandma B would love for
me to give some credit to her Irish ancestory. Porter
turned 9 months in February. He is crawling, pulling up and trying his
hardest to keep up with his big brother. Porter has mastered climbing stairs,
but is still trying to figure how to come back down. He is walking when
holding onto a scooter or your hands. Porter loves to eat table food. He has
tried baked potato, refried beans, noodles, creamed corn, and a few other soft
foods. He recently had a reaction to chocolate, when he got ahold of a few of
his brother's M&M's, so we have to make sure and keep chocolate out of reach
for a few more months. Porter loves to imitate his brother pushing around
trains and cars. It surprised us that he caught on so quick how to play with
older toys. Porter is babbling all the time and learned to clap his hands in
February. Matt loves to come home at night to Porter talking and clapping with
much enthusiam when he hears his dad's voice.
Porter has struggled over the winter months with upper respiratory viral
infections and is finally clearing up and his cough is gone. We continue to
give Porter breathing treatments at night for a couple of more weeks. Porter
is scheduled for a minor out-patient surgery in March, so we pray that
everything goes as smooth as possible for him. It is hard to believe that
Porter will be one in May, I feel like I just brought him home yesterday.
Cameron is 32-months-old. Cameron has turned into a young boy over the past
few months. He has developed his own personality, a sense of humor, and is
able to tell you just what he thinks about everything. We enrolled Cameron in
preschool at our church, which he will begin in the fall. Cameron has shown an
interest in music and tumbling. He has a lot of upper body strength and
coordination. We plan to enroll Cameron in gymnastics when he is 3. Cameron
loves to sing songs to his baby brother. Cameron shares a love for music with
his Grandma and says he hopes to play the cello when he is big, just like his
big cousin, Seth. Cameron is learning how to play with his little brother. He
gets frustrated at times, but has become more patient with his brother. Cameron
loves to shower Porter with hugs and kisses. He told me the other day, "I have
a cute baby brother, Mom". Cameron is happy that Porter has become more
expressive and gets very excited when Porter laughs and claps with him. I give
thanks each day to God giving us two beautiful, healthy boys. When I
have them both in my arms snuggling up to me to laugh, or read a book, I wish I
could stop time and sit there with our cheeks pressed against one another
forever.

Cousin Morgan
2007-03-09 (Friday) 8:17 CST
My Cousin, Morgan, and his friend, Jason, live in Taiwan. We were so happy to
have them visit us recently. Cameron met Morgan and Jason when he was
two-months-old, and was thrilled to see them again. We were so happy that they
were able to meet Porter too. Morgan is my mother's nephew. My mom and Morgan
are only 12 years apart and have always been very close. I remember my mom and
Morgan talking to eachother forever out on the porch swing at our Grandma
Dooley's farm. Morgan attended MU to receive his Master's degree at the same
time that I was working on my Bachelor's at MU. Morgan and I are 12 years
apart as well, which makes Morgan, my mom, and me born in the Year of the
Dragon. This may explain why we all love to talk talk talk and enjoy each
other's company so much. Morgan moved to Taiwan after graduating from MU
in 1998, he eventually met Jason, who has helped make Taiwan Morgan's
home.
