We recently ventured on a short trip to Omaha, NE to visit their well-known
zoo. Though the trip was centered around the zoo, we ended up being pleasantly
surprised with other attractions. The hotel we stayed in had an indoor
waterpark, which allowed us all to have tons of fun without leaving the hotel,
so with little planning, Cameron and Porter had a blast. We enjoyed the unique
eating places in the downtown area of Omaha and strolled around the streets. We
also visited a great botanical
garden that we explored thinking it would be nice just to enjoy the
beautiful weather and ride a tram up to visit "Big Boy", one of the engines
designed for the Union Pacific railway system. We were surprised again to come
up on a unique garden railway system in the middle of the botanical gardens.
The boys loved watching the G-scale electric train going through nature
tunnels
and over bridges made from tree branches. We finally ventured to the Henry Doorly Zoo on the last day we were in
Omaha and had a wonderful day viewing all the wildlife. Unfortunetly we did
not get any great pictures from the zoo and the zoo train was not running, but
we had a great day none-the-less. The best exhibits were the tigers and the
gorillas. We had a wonderful trip that was just the right distance and length
to bring our young boys.
