More race results
2008-04-21 (Monday) 13:32 CDT

Sarah finished 714th out of the 10,439 women who entered the race (top 7%). It appears she finished 568th out of 5758 women between the ages of 18-39 (top 10%).

And if those stats weren't impressive enough, she beat 68% of the men who entered the race!

A New Personal Best
2008-04-21 (Monday) 13:10 CDT

Sarah finished her second marathon today, just a little race in Boston, in a personal-best 3 hours, 26 minutes and 10 seconds. Her time at the halfway point was a minute slower than in last fall's Kansas City Marathon, but her finishing time was nearly a minute and a half faster than in KC. We are extremely proud of her. Great job, mom!

Asking nicely

Tonight at dinner Porter asked for "more milk please." It was the first time his Dad has heard him say "please" on his own.

Spring is Here.. Or is it?
2008-04-01 (Tuesday) 14:06 CDT

Spring sprung for a day or two in March, but the warm days seem to be ever so briefly nestled between several days of cold temperatures. We took adavantage of one of the warm days and headed to the park with Cameron and Porter's great friends, Avi and Mason. The boys rode their bikes up and down the trail, played on the playset, and had a nice picnic. But what the older boys enjoyed doing the most was climbing trees and finding sticks to turn into weapons, or just lay them in a pile. Porter would of course try his best to imitate them and figure out their games. It is eye opening to see gender specific behavior start at such a young age. Being one of three girls growing up, I just don't recall the sword fights or the death defying leaps from the tallest branch you can lift your small frame up to. But it is always inspiring to observe their boyhood fantasy play and to give thanks for my two wonderful boys who are 100 percent made up of frogs and snails and puppy dog tails.

Cameron's Gymnastics
2008-04-01 (Tuesday) 13:43 CDT

Cameron attended preschool gymnastics from September 2007 until March 2008. Cameron made so much progess during these classes. He learned somersaults, headstands, balance beam, parallel bars, rings, rope swing, cartwheels, and trampoline jumps. He had great instructors, and we enjoyed the experience. Cameron has lost some interest and is ready to take a break and try a different sport. So, we are looking into t-ball and swimming for the spring/summer months. However, I definitely think Cameron has the strength, coordination, and agility to become a great gymnist.
