Beat the Heat
2008-08-05 (Tuesday) 21:34 CDT
With temps reaching into the 100's this week, the only way to stay comfortable
outside the air conditioning, is heading to the pool. We have had a great time
this summer visiting our local pool. Cameron has become very comfortable with
holding his breath and going underwater. He jumps off the side of the pool and
attempts to swim underwater before coming up for air. Porter has become very
acclimated to the water as well, I have to keep my eye on him at all times. He
wants to go all the way to the deep end of the kiddy pool, which is 2'6" and he
jumps off the side of the pool like his big brother. Porter will even tell me
not to catch him while he free falls off the side of the pool. So, I have to
stand there like I am not going to catch him, and then hold my arms out right
when he jumps off the side. Porter will go down the water slide 20 times in a
row, but I can't even bribe Cameron with money to attempt the slide. This has
been a fun summer at the pool, I am not quite ready for summer's end.
Cousin Seth and Aunt Rachel visited us in June. Above is a picture of all
three boys at the pool and one of Grandpa and Grandma B, Seth, Rachel, Cam, and
Porter at the Wisconsin Dells boat tour. Seth has turned into a very handsome
young man. Due to all the kite boarding Seth does in Corpus Christi, his
biceps are hard as rocks, and he is only 13 years old. Seth continues to play
the cello in his school orchestra and has become quite skilled in this area as
well.
Seth will begin his 8th grade year, his second attending school in Corpus.
Rachel tells us that she, Chris, and Seth love living in Corpus and spend a lot
of their time at the beach kite boarding and watching the tide. Chris has
started instructing local novice kite boarders. They continue offering their
dental lab services to dentists in the Corups Christi/San Antonio area. We
love when Rachel and Seth come to visit us here. We are so thrilled that they
have found a new home in Corpus where they report being much more relaxed being
near the big waves and the blue skies.
Above are some photos of our extended family in Milwaukee; my Great Aunt Iva
Lee, Cousin Willie, and my cousins Nick and Michelle, respectively. We had a
great time with Rachel, Seth, and my parents traveling up to Milwaukee for a
family reunion. We love all of you so much. We spent a couple of days
visiting with family and then drove to the Wisconsin Dells for water park fun.
On the way back home, we stopped through Springfield, IL and visited Lincoln's
tomb and one of Lincoln's log cabins in New Salem. Cameron had learned about
Lincoln this past year in preschool, so he new all about him living in a
log
cabin and his infamous profile on the penny. Here are a few more photos
from our Wisconsin journey.
