Cameron is 4!!!!
2008-07-16 (Wednesday) 21:04 CDT

Cameron finally turned four in June. He patiently enjoyed Porter and Daddy's recent birthdays, and when his day finally arrived, he was ecstatic. I can't believe my first born is four.

We are amazed how intelligent Cameron has become in just four short years. He understands my words, my emotions, my sarcasm, and my frustrations. He repeats things he hears verbatim, with exact intonation, often at embarrassing times.

I cherish the experience of having a front row seat for the boys' developing years. I do love you, Cameron, with all my heart.

Cameron is so bright and full of such energy and creativity. He has mastered the monkey bars; climbing trees is now his pastime.

Cameron recently had his 4-year check up, the first time in a doctor's office since he turned three. He's been very healthy. He weighs 39 pounds, is 42 inches tall, and has grown 4 inches in one year. He had his first real eye exam and scored 100%.

Cameron finished his first year of preschool in May. He attended a summer camp at his preschool for three weeks in June and loved it. He learned about Hawaii, Austrailia, and China. He also attended his first Vacation Bible School, at a nearby church.

We have visited the zoo, where the above pictures were taken, and stayed cool at our local pool and spray parks. It has been a fun summer so far. In the fall Cameron will begin two full days a week of pre-kindergarten. I think he is looking forward to going back to school, but the lazy days of summer sure feel nice right now.

Cameron celebrated his birthday with his friends at the pool. After recently seeing Grandpa B. in his old Army uniform and learning that Grandpa used to drive a tank, he wanted to have Army tanks at his birthday party. We found a tank cake and camouflaged baloons. Cameron had a blast, and the weather was perfect.

Following are more pictures from the zoo, where I captured Porter posing, and also snapped the two boys together. Porter looks up to his big brother so much. He has developed his own sense of humor and plays well on his own, however it is relaxing for us when the boys entertain one another. They compliment each other so well.

Porter and Thomas
2008-07-15 (Tuesday) 22:16 CDT

A boy at age 2 is the perfect age to take to see Thomas the Tank Engine. This is my third time to see Thomas, but it was such a new experience for Porter, that it made it so much fun to do again. We last went to see Thomas when Cameron was 2 and Porter was barely born. Porter could spend hours playing with trains. He has learned all the Thomas characters. When he saw Thomas in person, it was hard to control his excitement. Porter was absolutely walking on cloud 9. Though the train ride itself, was uneventful, rolling along flat plains, he seemed to get excited just to point to a haystack and say "Look, hay!". I am still on my search for another destination to take a real train trip on Amtrak. We almost left for Wisconsin at the end of June, but due to the flooding, the track was closed. I hope to take the boys on another train ride, before we miss this perfect window of time, where Porter adores trains.

Let's Play T-Ball
2008-07-15 (Tuesday) 21:52 CDT

Cameron participated in a couple of weeks of t-ball through Parks and Recreation in June along with his good friend, Brady. His skill in catching and throwing a softball greatly improved and he learned how to run around the bases. We often play t-ball in the backyard and he has been good at hitting the ball off the tee prior to playing on the team. We ordered t-ball pictures in the form of a baseball trading cards, it was really cute to see his stats on the back of the card. Porter had fun playing with his friend, Brett, during the sessions. He was anxious to get out there and play along with his big brother. We had to battle strong storms during the two weeks, but for the most part the weather was still nice and cool for the evening sessions. Cameron asks about playing again, so we will have to look at playing again next season.
