Mom's Boston Trip
2008-05-07 (Wednesday) 9:33 CDT

My mom and sisters, Emily and Rachel, traveled to Boston with me on April 19th to be my cheerleaders for the Boston marathon. My husband stayed home with the boys and they cheered me on in my head during those grueling miles. We had a great girls trip to Boston and enjoyed the sites. The weather was perfect, in the 50's and 60's with sunshine for the entire trip. The day of the race, April 21st, my family wore shirts with my name on them to surprise me at the finish line. Unfortunately, the finish line was enormous and I was not able to pick them out of the crowd. And likewise, my mom only captured my left arm in the photo below. Thank goodness Marathonfoto was able to capture a few good pictures for the scrapbook I have recently started to preserve my race info.

This was me before the race, feeling good and ready to set out for the Boston marathon. I want to point out that there is a cell phone holder attached to my left arm, not an mp3 player (I do not approve of using headphones during race events). Having the cell phone proved to be a great decision because it made it so much easier to find my family after the race. After 26.2 miles in 3:26:10 of vigorous running through Massachusettes, and climbing 4 hills after mile 17, I could finally stop. This event was one of the toughest physical challenges I have ever endured. For me, marathon running ranks up there right under childbirth. And similar to childbirth, shortly after the event and after a few good beers, you think to yourself, that wasn't so bad, I can do it again! Crazy thinking, I know, but I think I will stick to torturing myself with a few more marathons rather than a few more childbirths. Plus, I have these two wonderful boys to come home to. Cameron and Porter will always be my two greatest accomplishments.

Easter Sunday 2008

I have needed to post Easter pictures for awhile, so here they finally are. Porter and Cameron are about to turn 2 and 4 in May and June, so check back for birthday pictures.

Our church hosted a nice Easter egg hunt. Although it was bitter cold on Easter, the boys still gathered a few eggs to take home. Later we went to Grandma and Grandpa L's house for a nice Easter dinner. My mom was able to come visit over the weekend, so the boys were able to see three out of four grandparents over the holiday.
