Estes Park, CO

I am pretty sure that our recent vacation to Estes Park, CO will be one that the four of us will remember for a lifetime. This highly anticipated trip, our longest car ride with the boys, could not have gone any smoother. We had the cool, crisp, autumn weather and the picturesque views greeting us at every turn. Rocky Mountain National Park was beautiful. I would have loved to have gone on a long five-mile hike, but since we had Cameron and Porter in tow, the furthest hike we accomplished was a 1.6 mile round trip to Alberta Falls, which offered an amazing waterfall at the peak. The home we rented in the mountains offered more than expected and it was so nice to have all the amentities available so we could just relax and enjoy our time reconnecting with each other without obligations and responsibilities getting in the way. To our surprise, the home came equipped with legos, blocks, trucks, children's books, and other treasures so the boys had a great time just exploring the home while Matt and I soaked up the view. The boys and I enjoyed nature walks and climbing up massive boulders around the house too. Estes has a pretty marina in the middle of town. One day we rented bikes and set out on a leisurely bikeride around the lake, the picture above was taken at the marina. While we were in Colorado we were able to visit one of Matt's good friends, Wally, and wife, Missy, who live between Boulder and Estes. There are pictures of Matt and Wally and a picture Cam and Porter with their two sons, Jaden and Luka in the linked picture page. We also were able to visit my very close cousin, Erica, and Matt's oldest nephew, Christopher, in Ft. Collins, during one of our days in Colorado. The drive between Estes and Ft. Collins was so scenic. On our last day in Estes we took the boys to a go-cart park and they each had a chance to ride in a go-cart and a small train ride that they enjoyed. We had the park to ourselves since all the tourists pretty much abandon Estes after Labor Day. One last highlight of our trip I wanted to mention is our tours to two breweries in Ft. Collins, O'Dell and New Belgium, and a tour of a meadery in Boulder called Redstone Meadery. Since Matt brews our own ales and mead, it is always a treat to partake in tastings. It was sad to leave Colorado and head back to reality where we have to continue to work so we can go on another vacation soon. I am already seeking out other vacation destinations within driving distance to escape, but Estes will definetly be revisited and will be fondly remembered by us all. Here are more photos from our Colorado vacation.
