First Spring trip to Deanna Rose Farmstead 2009-04-24 (Friday) 17:53 CDT
Easter 2009 2009-04-24 (Friday) 17:37 CDT
It was an interesting Easter, which unfortunately was similar to Easter 2005,
when Cameron was 10 months old and suffered a horrible stomach virus. Poor
Porter started getting sick Thursday before Easter, but this one lasted all
weekend and into the next week. He was so miserable and everyone felt so bad
for him. So, no bunny pictures with Porter, no Easter egg hunts either. Above
are pictures taken with the Crown Center Easter Bunny. Friends, Jack and
Mason, joined us. Crown Center let you take your own pictures, so I was able
to take them for free, which was great because you never know how kids will
react to the Easter Bunny. I had to crop Porter out of the first picture since
he was crying, I didn't realize he was feeling so bad yet.
Grandma and Granpa B came up for the weekend and were such a big help. Grandma
B took Cam to our church Easter Egg hunt, where he had a blast. On Easter
Sunday, Cam, Grandma B and I went on to church while Matt, Porter, and Grandpa
B stayed home to care for Porter and prepare lunch, since we had to change our
plans to go out to lunch.
The Easter Bunny brought Cam and Porter lots of candy, cute stuffed animals,
and cozy matching catapillar sleeping bags. It took Porter a couple of days
after Easter to become interested in his candy and once he did it was hard to
keep the jelly beans away. I was unable to take good pictures of them in their
Easter outfits, but fortunately we had some taken over Spring Break in their
outfits, so post a couple of them at a later date. Below is a picture of poor
Porter in his new sleeping bag feeling pretty crummy, and quick pics before
church. I don't know what it is
about stomach viruses and Easter, but we pray for a smoother Easter 2010.
PJ plays a game 2009-04-12 (Sunday) 17:44 CDT
PJ's been quite sick all weekend, but this afternoon he finally sat up and
played a game with Grandpa B.:
Cameron and I attended Kindergarten round-up to receive an introduction to what
is to come this fall. We toured the kindergarten classrooms and met the
teachers. Cameron is excited that his neighbor and long time friend, Brady,
will be joining him at his new school. Cameron looks forward to meeting new
friends and exploring the classroom very soon. I am a little anxious about
sending Cam off to grade school, but I know he is well-prepared and is excited
to continue his learning.
Scary Captain Blue Eyes 2009-04-07 (Tuesday) 13:33 CDT
Cameron loves to dress up as many different heroes and villains, and one of his
favorites is a pirate. He gave the me a scowl and a friendly "Hoe Hoe
Hum".
Cam is always finding treasures around the house or on an outing to add to his
treasure chests. This is a fun stage for young boys and it is also
interesting for parents to observe. Cameron is very resourceful when it
comes to finding
treasures, he
will turn a couple of clothes pins into a prized posession
or a weapon to hide away from meddling varmints.
Spring Break in the Ice Box 2009-04-07 (Tuesday) 13:08 CDT
After a few days dealing with strepthroat in both Cameron and Porter, we made
it to Columbia to spend a few days with Grandma and Grandpa. We ventured to
the Devil's Ice Box, which is a well known cave in Columiba, at Rockbridge Memorial State
Park. I have many memories of having family picnics and walking the trails
at this park. Many photos taken by my mom. When in middle school, I ventured
on a field trip with my science teacher and other Oakland students to canoe in
the cave and navigate through the park using a compass. I also recall that
when my dad taught R.O.T.C. at Mizzou, he took his students on trips to
Rockbridge as well. They would actually go very deep into the cave, much
deeper than I would ever go. I remember him telling me the water was up to
their necks and they had to carry the canoe above their heads. I never liked
that visualization of being stuck between cold water and the top of a cave,
with bats, and being forced to hold a canoe in between. The boys didn't go
very far into the cave with Grandpa, but enough to get their feet wet.
This visit to Rockbridge Park is the first of many trips with the
boys especially as they get older.
