Aunt Rachel's Autumn Visit
2009-10-30 (Friday) 19:26 CDT
Aunt Rachel and cousin, Seth, visited us in October. They left the 90 degree
temps in Corpus Christi to experience an early cold weekend in the
Midwest. Matt, the boys, and I met Rachel, Emily, and Jeremy in Weston, MO for
an Irish festival and wine tasting. After visiting Weston last fall, I wanted
my sister to experience the beautiful and quaint little town of Weston. I was
disappointed that the temperatures were so cold to enjoy ourselves at an
outdoor festival with live Irish music. I could tell the boys would have been
miserable standing outside at the festival, so we did not pay the admission to
the festival. However, being such a small town, you could hear the music
everywhere, so Cameron did a cute jig on the front steps of Pirtle Winery to
keep warm. We had a tasting at Pirtle and explored the local shops in Weston.
Then we ventured to another local vineyard that was recommended by Emily,
called Riverwood Winery in
Rushville, MO.
We purchased a very interesting Blackberry Wine. We had a relaxing evening
drinking our bottles of wine and laughing with my wonderful sisters, Rachel and
Emily, as well as Seth and Emily's boyfriend, Jeremy at our house, where we
were finally able to stay warm for once that day. The next day we tortured
ourselves once again to be outside in 40 degree temps at the Renaissance
Festival. Each year Rachel looks forward to going to these festivals. Rachel
has recently started taking belly dancing lessons and is now in a performance
group from Corpus Christi called the Texas Gypsies. Being part of the Texas
Gypsys, Rachel will perform at the local Renaissance Festival in Corpus. So
some of us were dressed for the occasion, including Cam in a pirate cosume, and
Porter as a wizard. Unfortunetly I did not get a group photo, because we spent
much of our day splitting up into smaller groups. I think Rachel was focused on
purchasing accessories for her new dance group and me and boys were running
around to the kids activities and hunting for new wooden swords. Below are
some pictures from the day. I think everyone enjoyed themselves at the
festival, but I will have to say my favorite part was drinking the hot spiced
mead that kept me warm from the inside out. I think next year, I will skip the
festival and just partake in the hot spiced mead in a more intimate setting.

Soccer 2009
2009-10-21 (Wednesday) 9:22 CDT
Cameron has really enjoyed his first soccer season. Cameron is motivated to
perform well and he has shown improvement in his skills.
Cam has enjoyed his buddy, Brady, shown below with Cam, being on his team. Cam
was also thrilled that two of his classmates, Iain and Reese, were also placed
on his team. It has been a lot of fun to spend time outside and watch his
practices and games. Cam counts down the days each week until he can play
soccer.
